One of the cool things about my nerve pain condition was all the stuff I learned about my body.
And now, I'm basically best friends with my vagus nerve. 🤣
The vagus nerve is the longest nerve in your body, running from your brain to your gut, and it’s in charge of your "rest and digest" (parasympathetic) functions.
As it travels through the body it regulates a bunch of essential things!
Keeping it healthy can help you feel calmer, more focused, emotionally balanced, and it can even improve digestion, immunity, and sleep. It also helps lower heart rate and blood pressure. Like, wow!
How to Reset your Vagus Nerve:
Sit or lie down.
Interlace your fingers and cradle the back of your head with your hands, just where your neck meets your skull.
Without moving your head, shift your eyes to the right (looking at 3 o'clock out of the corner of your eyes) until you naturally sigh or yawn. Be patient - this could take a minute or so.
Then, do the same thing on the left.
That sigh or yawn signals that your vagus is resetting, and you should feel more relaxed almost immediately.
It's a great thing to do daily.
Have a calm and focused week!
